About Tucker Park

Tucker Park at Maidens Crossing is located off of the Route 522 Bridge in Maidens, Virginia, in the central part of Goochland County.

The perfect gathering site for citizens and visitors of all ages, the park site features thirty-six (36) acres of river access property including 1200 feet directly on the bank of the James River.

Despite 40 miles of riverfront in Goochland County, Tucker Park offers one of the few public access points to the James River that that does not require crossing a railroad track.

Typical of scenic, rural landscape in Goochland County, Tucker Park showcases the area’s natural beauty and celebrates its historical significance. Owned by Goochland County and operated under the Department of Parks and Recreation department, Tucker Park at Maidens Crossing is supported by Friends of Goochland Parks. With open space for recreational use, Tucker Park also offers wonderful spots to fish, picnic, read, paint or just relax!

Current Park features:

  • A beautiful and natural one mile trail loop trail with a 12-foot wide natural bark surface
  • Wonderful spots to fish, picnic, read, paint or just relax!
  • A handicapped accessible parking lot.
  • The CarMax Cares event performance stage
  • Open space for recreational use
  • Historical markers commemorating Maidens Crossing and the Maidens Adventure Inn/Tucker Hotel, two areas that played a significant role in the early commerce and transportation of Goochland County.
  • An environmental teaching stage
  • Interpretative signage for Tucker Park with information and visuals on the natural elements specific to the park, including river species, native plants and animals, watersheds and canals.
